The Galusha family has produced pure Adirondack Maple Products at Toad Hill for more than 30 years. Toad Hill is the largest maple producer in Warren County, with more than 4,000 vacuum-assisted taps spread across two sugar bushes. In the summer of 2010 a USDA "REAP" grant enabled them to build a brand new energy-efficient facility, completed for the spring 2011 season.
Tour the sugarhouse and sample the products during the Fall Farm Tour.
If your notion of "vacuum-assisted" has something to do with an Electrolux, you'll want Randy and Jill to set you straight. Stop in for tours of their sugarbush and sugarhouse and see the wide variety of maple products they offer.
This year Sam Caldwell of Blue Line Barn will share his passion for “a perfectly fitted joint, an elegant design and a sharp chisel” which his company employed in the Toad Hill sugarhouse timberframe construction. Check back here to find out when his timberframe raising is scheduled.
Also, check to see if the deer left any pumpkins in the pumpkin patch. Learn more and see photos at www.toadhillmaple.com.
SATURDAY ONLY: Chicken Barbecue by Thurman Volunteer Fire Department. From 1 to 5 p.m. A limited number of dinner tickets are available, so play it safe and get there early. See details on Activities list.
